McDonald’s coffee line is taking a big step forward. Now, they are offering healthier and waist-friendlier “on-the-go” options. These include chicken noodle soup, salads, and many other pre-packaged meals using ingredients like kale, brussels sprouts, quinoa and edamame. Unfortunately, the only location is Toronto, Canada, so far, but chances are that the next one will open in the USA.
2. Looking Good
A New York photographer Sally Davies started a “Happy Meal Project” documenting what happens to fast food after being left unrefrigerated under a glass case. Because of containing a lot of sodium propionate it still looked edible even after five months. According to a Canadian food scientist, this could be a result of the lacking moisture in the patty and bun during the steaming and toasting preparation.
One of the most unhealthy fast food restaurants once used to own 90 percent stake in the Mexican restaurant Chipotle. Back in 1998 McDonald’s invested and helped to grow the company from 14 to 460 locations. In 2006 they ended up selling this more healthy and socially-conscious brand.
4. Pet Fish
A new UK survey tried to find out what the average profile of a McDonald’s customer looks like. Surprisingly, it showed that most of them actually own a pet fish. In addition, most customers tend to be females between 25 and 39 and have an income of at least $155 a month.Their free time activities include sleeping, watching movies at home and playing video games.
5. Shamrock Shake
To be honest, it is basically just corn syrup. Like most shakes in McDonald’s, Shamrock is blended from vanilla reduced-fat ice cream, shake syrup and whipped cream, but the main component in all of these ingredients is corn syrup. Just to make things worse, it contains 115 grams of sugar, which is over twice your daily recommended intake.
6. Guilt-free Foods
It may sound unbelievable, but there are actually diet-friendly meals approved by diet experts in McDonald’s. The solution was pretty simple: grilled chicken and no mayo. These chicken nuggets are somehow always in the center. Recently, a former McDonald’s employee revealed that once he accidentally left out a whole bag of nuggets on the counter and they literally melted into liquid. No wonder, they are contain a combination of finely-ground chicken meat, with water-based marinade of sodium phosphates, food starches, yeast extract, dextrose, citric acid and flavourings.

The big difference is a stylist and photoshop team working on it for several hours.
McDonald’s is trying to revamp their carry-out bags beverage cups and sandwich boxes all the time. There’s always something new: bold design, big typography, bright colors and different fonts. By 2020 they plan to make 100% of their fiber-based packaging from recycled or certified resources trying to prove their customers that they care about the planet.
10. McDonald’s Next
Another new thing being introduced, but this time in Hong Kong. The aim of McDonald’s Next is to attract customers who are trying to lose weight, since a survey found out that 50 percent of the responders were not satisfied with their body and were planning to change their diet. Unlike every restaurant, this one has black and white logo and completely looks like a salad bar.
11. Happy Meal
Although the Happy Meal was invented for kids, it is also a perfect dinner for dieters. The reason for this is very simple. You may know that the size of the meal was not the same as you are used to it, but the gift compensates.
12. Trans Fats
The artificial fat invented to make deep-fried and baked goods ‘better’ known as simply trans fat was in fact banned in 2015 by the Food and Drug Administration. But despite that, the chain still produces food containing both natural and artificial fats based on their website.
13. Breakfast All Day
You are certainly convinced that breakfast options are only available in the morning, right? Well, now you can eat hotcake and sausage, muffins, cinnamon melts and oatmeal any time of the day. Be careful, though, these belong to the unhealthiest choices of McDonald’s.
14. Free Eggs
Consumer demands are the most significant tasks a fast food restaurant has to fulfill. One of these was the question of cage-free eggs. Since only 10 percent of the hen houses are cage-free and McDonald’s owns about 14,000 restaurants only in the United States this seemed to be a challenge, but they haven’t given up yet.
15. McPick 2
Picking an item from the dollar menu in the drive thru could be a little confusing as the price of the options varied from $1 to $5 in reality. Simplifying the process, there is a McPick 2 now, making it possible to get two items for a total of $2.

Believe it or not, McDonald’s does use butter instead of margarine, which is great news for us. It doesn’t include those health-harming trans fats and is not packed with tons of additives, which can seriously risk your health. Nobody needs depression, diabetes or heart-related problems after eating a few burgers, right?
Guess what? This sandwich does not include any ribs despite its name. The pork patty soaked in salt is just simply pressed into a rib-like shape. It is another delicious but fattening burger thanks to the sweet bun, salted pork and the sauce made from high fructose corn syrup.
21. Mini Meals
After studying about the good impact of Happy Meals on adults, McDonald’s came up with the idea of Mini Meals. They are basically Happy Meals for adults. Do not expect a completely healthy meal, but it’s still a much better choice than an average-sized one.
22. Chicken Sandwiches
“Real’ chicken sandwiches tend to be the most popular items on the menu. But honestly, people are fooling themselves by thinking that these are healthier than every other burger. There’ no such thing like 100% chicken breast meat in the world of McDonald’s, but 24 grams of fat, 63 grams od carbs and 900 mg of sodium. Does it still sounds healthy?
23. Mozzarella Sticks
100% mozzarella sticks with tomato-based marinara sauce sounds very delicious and is definitely worth trying once, no doubt. But keep in mind that those few sticks contain 200 calories next to 560 milligrams of sodium.

26. Organic Buns
Speaking of organic patty, McDonald’s also had to try the same with its buns. Sadly, they were only available for seven weeks. They possibly failed because of the high costs or their unpopularity among the fast food consumers.
27. Sweet Potatoes
The sweet potato fries were tested only in a few places so far, but we are hoping for a better future. There are serious chances they’ll get back on the menu. Nothing can beat McDonald’s regular world famous fries, though.
28. Deep-Fried Pies
Remember those insanely delicious apple and cherry deep-fried pies back in 1992? The flat belly nightmares are back in the game, but only in Southern California. The rest of the world is keeping its eye on your figure by selling only the well-known healthier pies you can see everyday at McDonald’s.

Hop in a McDonald’s in case you feel like eating some mac’n’cheese in a cup. But be quick, it’s an alternative option to Happy Meal only for a limited time. It’s just as rich in calories as the chicken nuggets, but contain less artificial ingredients.
